effectively.

PLAN

I think Can Feliz is more like the Sculpture curved by the nature. So I placed section porches at the bottom right to look like sculpture curved. The reason I used rough brown paper for my porches is that I understand the atmosphere of Can Feliz is “new but old” and natural space. Also the colour of this paper gives an idea about the colour of this building's material which is sandstone. Also it is gives an atmosphere of the nature surrounding Villa Can Feliz.

INTERPLAY

I felt the main essence of the Can Feliz is “Interplay”. Utzon mentioned that Can Feliz is inspired by the site itself and leaves. In addition, the building is built by the local materials such as sandstone and wood. They represent that Utzon considered a lot about the interplay between nature and building. This interplay also can be seen by the light and enclosures. By changing the openness slowly from the outside nature to the enclosed building area Can Feliz has relationship with nature. My parti is embodying these ideas. These curving lines represent influences from the nature. Also the changing of the tone shows changing of the openness, changing of light and where the enclosures areas are.

Utzen's platform

Maya's temple

Utzen inspired platform in the trip to Mexico. He was fascinated by Maya culture's giant terraced platforms. Utzen mentioned that "When one stand on the platform where the temple lie the jungle roof suddenly become a vast field under the open sky. Down on the ground level the view is limited by the dense jungle but upon the platform one is closer to the god and the view is endless."
Lcationally Villa Can Feliz is also surrouned by the tree and true nature same as like Maya's temple. The platform Utzen made for Villa can Feliz gives same advantages.

STRUCTURE

Villa Can Feliz

My group studied about Villa Can Feliz by Jorn Utzon in Spain. It is second version of Utzon’s house in Mallorca island. Can Feliz was built according to the local traditional with local materials throughout the house such as sandstone and wood. This is why Can Feliz gives a sense of the timeless.
There are few scheme in Can Feliz. Firstly, building has manmade flat forms to create horizontal surface in the landscape. Platforms have a different hights and connected by steps. Secondly Can Feliz composed with three big independent country house which is connected together through the landscape. Finally the brick wall surrounding country yard and rooms rise up and down in keeping with different levels of terrain.
